I am a conceptual artist. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, I wasn't ready to make art about it, but knew that eventually I probably would feel the need to do so. The night before my double mastectomies, I "printed" my left breast on acrylic film. I couldn't print the right because it still had bandages from the surgical biopsies. It felt a little like a ritual of saying good-bye. Later I purchased an x-ray light box on which to display the film and was very glad that I had captured that moment in time.
